Hi, everyone✋

 

Today let me introduce the oldest fruit of the world!

 

I’ve worked at the shop which sell imported dried fruits and nuts and learned the nutrition of various food.

When it comes to dried fruits, probably mango, prune, and pineapple will come up to your mind first.

Or if you are familiar with dried fruits, maybe orange, fig, and peach….

 

And here is my favorite dried fruit!

 

 

 

Dates!

There is archaeological evidence of date cultivation in Arabia from the 6th millennium BCE, which is the oldest record of fruits.

Unlike other colorful dried fruits, dates have dark-brown color.

 

-Taste-

 

Dates might look weird and uneatable for some people, but it’s actually chewy and sweet.

 

 

-History-

 

So, dates has been eaten since B.C. 6000. Isn’t it surprising?

Also, the fact that Cleopatra and Mary (mother of Jesus) ate dates!

Not only the loooong history dates has, but it’s also high in some important nutrients.

 

-Nutrition-

 

Dates are the fruit of the palm tree and it can be easily grown from seed even in the desert.

That’s why date palm is called ” The Tree of Life”

According to the history, caravan,  a group of people journeying together with camels, are used to live on dates and the camel’s milk.

Dates are high in some important nutrients such as calcium, iron, vitamin, potassium, and dietary fiber.

Dates has many good effects on the female function as well, so it’s highly recommended to women.

       In Iran, women eat dates to have a healthy child.

For the ways to eat dates, I got some recommendations!

♪Eat as is♪

♪Snack with Alcohol (Wine is my fav)♪

♪With Cheese and Walnuts♪

♪Put in Yogurt Overnight  and Eat in the Morning♪

♪Eat with Cereals♪

♪Crush them and Put on Your Toasts♪

 

For dates beginners, I recommend Egyptian dates.

They are more chewy than ones from Iran or Algeria, and easy to try for those who have never tried dates.

The ideal consumption is 2~3 for each day(Don’t eat too much!)
